a small, Southern beach town with captivating character all its own and only 20 minutes from Savannah. Spend the day on the beach, exploring the activities or history of Tybee, or tour historic Savannah. Culinary treats abound on the island where native seafood is a favorite.
Fort Screven,
on the island’s north end, was established in 1897 and remained an integral part of the U.S. coastal defense system through the mid-1940’s.
The Restored Tybee Lighthouse
